  • Annual Physical Exam

They always say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. We believe it is important to see your pets at least once a year to ensure their health and help prevent possible diseases from progressing too far. We will do a complete physical exam and go over any questions or concerns that you may have.

During this time we will also review the diseases that your pet has the potential to be exposed to and help decide which vaccines are most appropriate for your pet. Vaccinating your pet is the best way to ensure that his or her immune system is prepared to deal with and stop these infections when exposure occurs.

Also, we discuss tests to look for parasites affecting your pet. These include heartworm testing and fecal testing for intestinal parasites. We look forward to seeing you and your pets!

  • Our veterinarians are both experienced and confident. They perform a variety of surgical procedures, both routine and emergency. From spaying and neutering to more complicated procedures such as ACL repair and emergency exploratory surgery, our staff is prepared to give your pet the best surgical and post-surgical care possible.

Please feel free to come in or call if you wish to review what a specific surgery entails or the types of surgeries that we perform.

  • Dental health is an incredibly important part of your pet’s overall health. By age three, 70-80% of pets will begin showing symptoms of periodontal disease. It is important to address periodontal disease as soon as possible to avoid other possible health issues from arising. The excessive bacteria from the mouth can affect your pet's entire organ system due to being absorbed into the bloodstream. Your veterinarian will advise when it is time for a professional dental cleaning, which is very similar to what happens at our own dentist visits. Your pet will be given an in-depth physical examination then placed under anesthesia, digital dental radiographs will be taken to address any possible issues underneath the gum-line, and a thorough ultrasonic cleaning of the crown and underneath the gum-line will be performed, finished by polishing.

Occasionally after your pet's physical exam and dental radiographs issues will be found. Depending on the severity of these issues, dental extractions will need to be done to optimize your pet's health and to remove sources of pain. Our veterinary team strives to provide the best care possible and only performs extractions when absolutely necessary for your pet's wellbeing.
The staff at Nicholasville Road Animal Hospital is also happy to guide you in the right direction for future at home dental care after your pet's dental cleaning. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to any of our staff and we will be more than happy to guide you in the right direction.

  • This amazing service differs from traditional x-ray in that the technology is more advanced. This allows us to make treatment decisions for your pet in a more informed and efficient manner. Due to lightning-fast processing speed, your pet will have minimal time being restrained. This reduces pain, stress and in some instances, anesthesia.

In addition to full body digital x-rays, we now offer digital dental x-rays. This is a major advancement in pet dental health care and helps us to determine the health of the teeth below the gum line.

  • We are happy to be able to provide basic pet hygiene services in a clean, safe, veterinarian clinic environment. The best part, for us, is the opportunity to spend more time bonding with and caring for your pets while helping you keep them happy and well cared for.

    Our services include:

    • Micro-chipping
    • Nail Trimming
    • Ear Cleaning
    • And many other services.

Please feel free to contact us so we can see how we can help you.
